Mr. Castaneda served as General Counsel to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Agency ("DART"), a regional multi-city public agency that provides transportation services to the public utilizing bus, light rail and commuter rail vehicles. DART is led by a fifteen (15) member regional Board of Directors drawn from eighteen (18) member cities and has an annual budget in excess of $400 million. The Agency was engaged in a multi-year $4 billion construction program approved by the voters of North Texas. Mr. Castaneda represented DART in all legal matters, including the legal oversight of the construction of their Light Rail and Commuter Rail systems serving Dallas and Ft. Worth. Mr. Castaneda also managed over two hundred (200) active litigation matters. His responsibilities also included management of a $5 million office budget and supervision of over thirty (30) staff, including sixteen (16) in-house attorneys and over thirty (30) outside counsel. Mr. Castaneda also represents a variety of corporations that are engaged in providing cyber security solutions to their global corporate customers. Additionally, Mr. Castaneda is the Founder of the annual Global Cyber Security Law Conference For General Counsel which annually brings together the most prominent CLO and CIO thought leaders involved in providing solutions to the multi-faceted problems associated with Cyber Security threats.
Mr. Castaneda is currently a founding partner and senior legal/business advisor to the North American Hispanic Truckers Alliance (“NAHTA”), a national and international consortium of Hispanic truckers that form the largest identifiable segment of America’s trucking industry. NAHTA will provide an assortment of financial, marketing, advocacy and critical support services to members of the Alliance, including the securing and negotiation of contracts ( through a co-op affiliate ) with some of the nation’s largest private corporations and public agencies.
